Maple Weekend 2012 - March 17th and 18th

The Sugar House at the Loomis Barn Furniture Store and Country Shops in Rushville, NY is once again participating in Maple Weekend March 17 and 18 from 9:00-3:00, as part of a statewide open house sponsored by the NYS Maple Producers. Maple Weekend is the perfect opportunity to become part of the springtime fun of making maple syrup and to sample the many maple confections offered by local producers; from fresh syrup and maple candy, to maple cream and maple mustard.

This family oriented event is free of charge and offers something for everyone. Enjoy a hayride to the sugar bush to see the tapped maple trees and then tour the warm sugar house to watch over the steamy fragrant production of fresh maple syrup. Most importantly, meet and talk face to face with the people who undertake the huge task of boiling down 40 gallons of watery sap to make just one gallon of pure golden syrup.

There will be tractor-pulled wagon rides to the woods, baby farm animals (weather permitting), food samples, maple cotton candy and activities for the kids. Saturday, March 17 will feature a sheep shearing demonstration and Sunday, March 18 there will be a demonstration by local woodsmen. Be sure to dress warmly, wear boots and plan on asking lots of questions.

As an added treat, the Rushville Firemen will be hosting an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast from 8:00am-2:00pm both days at the Rushville Fire House on Railroad Avenue in Rushville.
